Trip to St. Louis

Last week I took Parker and Caleb with me to St. Louis. For about the last 8 years I have gone up to STL for a long weekend for a Girls time. Once we all started having children then it became a cousins time along with sisters/mom time. Traveling in a car with only me and the little boys is a huge undertaking esp. when Caleb was so sick of being in the car seat. But we made it. It was worth it to see the boys play with their cousins and make memories. One of the days we went to my sisters lake house to play as the whole Wiggers clan. What a blast that was and we look forward to doing it next year. Parker loved playing in the water, jumping off the dock and riding on the boats. He didn't like tubing with me, he thought it was too scary, at least he did it once. Parker enjoying a sucker on the boat. Caleb eating Watermelon.
Both of these pictures are great and I can't wait to have them made into canvas art to put on our walls in our home.

Eat more Chicken

On Friday, it was cow appreciation day at Chick fil a. We love this place. Since I didn't know about it last year, I was prepared to do it this year. The deal was to dress up like a cow and get a free meal. We went blueberry picking in the morning with Parker's friend from school. We planned on going to lunch afterwards. Well David called me to tell me that the deal was all day. So we stopped at the chick for breakfast, lunch and then dinner. We convinced Daddy to dress up at last minute to get his free meal. It was so much fun to watch other families come in the door all dressed up. I actually met another mom who had been to 3 chicks that day. So, I guess I wasn't the only determined to get free meals. Now we have our shirts read for next year when this deal comes around again. Caleb like to eat his cone this way

4th of July

That week on Sunday we went down to UAB green area to listen to the UAB band play and enjoy some DQ ice cream. It was fun to hang out as a family of 4 on a blanket and just be relaxed. Parker enjoyed playing soccer on the green before the fireworks started at 9. Caleb had his little soccer ball as well and loved throwing it back and forth to me and anyone around us. Parker climbing on a traffic light pole while listening to the band.

Parker loved taking photos of the fireworks. Both boys loved seeing them and it was a great cool evening of us to watch the fireworks.

Our Backyard Gardens

This blog post is for my dear 4 sisters. They have been wanting to know what our gardens look like ever since Dad and Mom were here for Caleb's 1 year old birthday party. We were finally able to mulch all around this year, it hadn't been done in 4 years. This August will be our 5th year in this house. Lots of our neighbors always comment that they love what we have done with our yard. If they only knew what we did inside as well. Of course we want to do more projects in the house, but all in due time. Parker being funny in our patio area. We are trying to grow more grass in the shaded area. We cut down 3 trees on the fence line and now we have more light coming in this area. So we also lined the garden bed with rocks from our yard that we found.

The pictures don't do justice of what it really looks like. We really enjoy our backyard and it looks even better with my cushions that I made last year while I was 8 months pregnant with Caleb.

Having fun at the Hoover Library. Every week we go and pick out books to read for the week. we then get tickets for every 100 pages we read' which we then get to cash in for toys. Parker loves getting free toys and getting to read different books.

Fun watching the trains

On Sunday with my parents we went to Irondale Cafe (whistle stop cafe) for lunch and then got to spend time outside watching the trains go by. It was a lot of fun to see the boys really get excited to put pennies on the tracks and then look for them after the trains went by. This is one of our favorite places to go and get a great home-cooked meal. The Boys looking for their pennies that they put on the track. We got some really cool ones.
Caleb was so excited to see the Big TRAINS up in person going by him fast.

CALEB REID turns 1 years old

Caleb turned 1 years old yesterday. Wow how the time has gone by so fast. This little boy has brought us such joy and spunk this past year. We are so thrilled to have him part of our family. Yesterday on his birthday we had a farm themed birthday party for Caleb. Caleb looking at the bale of hay with a pitch fork and duck on it.
The farm cake that I made. It took me all day to bake 3 different cakes and then to put it all together with icing and candy.
The cupcakes were pigs, cows and ducks. I even made animal shaped sugar cookies, haystack cookies, rice krispies for the guests to eat while here at our house.
Caleb had his own personal little green cake with chocolate chips on it. He first just looked at it and all of us who were looking at him. We even put a little chick cupcake by him hoping to entice him to dive in.
We even gave him a fork to help. He decided to stick the chick with it.
Finally in the end, he did smash his own cake and eat some of it as well.
This cake was so yummy and fun Mommy to dive into with my fork. I can't believe you didn't tell me NO for making a mess out of my food.
